I have never understood why the photographer needs the tarp

There are no bad pictures. That’s just how you look sometimes.

the camera evolved from the camera obscura which was a box that people used to draw objects the Image from. the black tarp was used to create a dark space so you could see the image projected on a frosted glass plate. After it was developed people realized that they could use light sensitive material to capture the image instead of sketching it.

So looking at it that way, BC may have been able to invent it.

Next invention, social media, so you can disgust all your friends.

The only positive comment on this FIRST photo ever is that it was not a selfie. Someone TOOK the photograph….

The name photograph is a misnomer. The Camera is the photo-GRAPH, the image recorded and made by that instrument is a photo-GRAM. But like many things in English, the incorrect name caught on.

I didn’t know they had complete idiots back then!
