You just have to become a total Disciple in the Party Of Trump.

Start off by believing that he is 6’ 3" and not obese.

Mexico will pay for The Wall.

Biden stole the election illegally and Trump will be reinstated in August. Widespread undetectable voter fraud. Really.

And no collusion, no connection, no Treason, and all those pardons were examples of true justice being carried out.

    .

There are mountains of others, of course, but each one you swallow and keep down makes the next couple easier. Before you know it, you’ll be just like Little Marco, and Lyin’ Ted Cruz.

The Governor of Florida has mandated that professors and students fill out a survey about their political beliefs. And they are demanding and end to the teaching of Subjects That Make Them Feel Bad.

But that’s not “cancel culture,” of course.

Too late, my time has come,p

Sends shivers down my spine, body’s aching allThe time

Goodbye, everybody, I’ve got to go,

Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth

So you think you can stop me and spit in my eye

So you think you can love me and leave me to die

Oh, baby, can’t do this to me, baby,

Just gotta get out, just gotta get right outta here

Conservatives have practiced “cancel culture” for decades.

There’s an entire laundry list of individuals the twice-impeached now private citizen wanted fired, and companies he called on Americans to boycott.

The Arizona GOP censured Cindy McCain, a private citizen who has never held elective office, for insufficient loyalty to you-know-who.

Colin Kaepernick’s career was shut down for kneeling during the national anthem. The Chicks (back then known as the Dixie Chicks) spent years in obscurity after criticizing George W. Bush. Conservatives declared entertainers should “shut up and sing”, and then treated Ted Nugent, Kid Rock, Scott Baio, and that guy from Duck Dynasty as opinion leaders. (Yes, I know, only two of them are primarily known as singers.)

The American Family Association and the (no where near) One Million Moms call for boycotts of any entertainment that shows even the most fleeting positive portrayals of same-sex love or affection, and any retailer that doesn’t scream out “MERRY CHRISTMAS!” at every customer from roughly Halloween to the Epiphany.

Check out the American Library Association’s list of the most censored books. Most deal with LGBTQIA themes, another is the Harry Potter series as a whole, and the last is The Handmaid’s Tale. None of them are liberal targets.

Conservatives were outraged when the people who represent Dr. Seuss’ estate decided to drop four low-selling books from publication because of racist imagery, but yet there were conservatives who tried to ban The Lorax because of it’s anti-logging message.

Take it back three-four decades — Christian conservatives conducted bonfires of heavy metal albums and Dungeons and Dragons books. (Why did I decide I didn’t like fundamentalists? They came after my D&D books. You can have my Player’s Handbook when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers!)

Go back even further than that — McCarthyism, the Hollywood Blacklist, Red Scares.

    Conservatives invented cancel culture.

Being criticized, as the Right is, is just every bit as bad as being threatened or run down in the street, as the Left is.

Equivalency, as seen by the watery-eyed Right, who suffer as no organism has ever suffered on this Earth.

I really wish someone would tell me, specifically, just who or what has been “cancelled.” As best I can make out, it refers to some much-needed re-evaluation of our perception of the ante-bellum South, the Civil War and it’s aftermath, and the inherent racism of the United States that has persisted ever since. While no one will actually say, “Oh, slavery wasn’t all that bad,” there does seem to be a view that, in some way, the history of segregation, Jim Crow, lynchings, the Ku Klux Klan, and the like “really isn’t all that bad.” None of those things have “gone away,” so exactly what has been “cancelled?”

Canceling is not forever. Almost everything “cancelled” comes back once people move on to something new.

Cancelling is not censorship. It is free speech.

There are TV/Radio/Internet personalities who won’t use Donald Trump’s name. Like the ancient Egyptians, they are removing him from the walls of their own personal pyramid. He’s cancelled.

So, not using the FORMER presidents name, that’s a free speech choice. It is not censorship.

Avoiding using Donald Trump’s name is like avoiding talking about what we do in the bathroom, just before we flush the toilet. I know who you mean and you don’t have to say his name.

Ironically, “cancellation” has long been a tool of conservatism. Ostracism is the primary weapon for enforcing compliance with social standards. It’s also nothing new. It’s been around as long as there have been human beings. Pretending it is new in order to shame liberals is . . . either incredibly disingenuous or incredibly naive.
