I need to get my other glasses. I read that as calvary. I must have been thinking they are rescued from suffering at the restaurant? Or, I just can’t read.
Sounds like they’re in Louisiana. Make sure they’re vaccinated and demand proof of vaccination from anyone who wants to eat there. Only about a third of the state is fully vaccinated. This is a major outbreak waiting to happen.
I can sure relate to the parents. I can’t hardly drive more than an hour or so before I have to stop, stretch and take a bathroom break. Four hours straight? Not even possible.
My wife and I will soon drive 1,300 miles in less than two days so that we can babysit our two young grandchildren for two-and-a-half weeks – again. I think our survival is questionable, even though we are only 68 and in incredible shape, according to several physicians.
All I can say to Arlo and Janis is “Been there, done that, have the aches and pains.”
When you have exhausted any reserves and bring up the walking wounded and retired, then it might be time to negotiate a peaceful way to close the ongoing struggle.
If a four-hour trip gives them that much pain, I would hope that getting up and moving about “in the country” would loosen them up a bit. But they haven’t seemed to be anywhere near that stiff back at their own house.
FWIW, I have often driven 12-hour stretches with no problem, and I believe I’m older (in cartoon years) than they are. But I also understand that people differ… often significantly.

Their going to be doing more then help. Their kids know nothing about managing a business.

Tip for the cavalry: From the salary buy some decent saddles… er, seats for the car.
Or upgrade to a car with decent seating to begin with.

Only 4 hours? I used to feel that way after 10 and I didn’t have cruise control. My ankle would be stiff.

and are requiring some help.

Not long ago. I did a short trip, seats are comfortable, made stops. I’m more seasonable now, and can relate same soreness. Even if the trip is short.

Some help better then no help. That’s love and personal sacrifice. Especially from parents.

Some people don’t care for arcs with the kids, I generally enjoy them. Maybe because in some ways it’s closer to real life.

The cavalry needs to leave their house more often. They wouldn’t suffer from long drive cramps if they did.
