That is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. Jim obviously hasn’t a clue about science. “A fragment of a radio signal from long ago” would be so far out in space no satellite would be receiving it now.
The lead character is 150 years old, there’s talking animals all over the place and Slim hasn’t died from a massive heart attack. If you’re looking for scientific accuracy here, it says more about you than the comic strip.
Astro is a person form TV Scifi “Tom Corbett, Space Cadet.” Polaris was the name of their space ship We haven’t heard from Capt. Strong nor Cdr. Arkwright yet. G’night all.
One of the best parts of GA, IMO, is the retro, throwback, nostalgia story arcs. Old time radio. The funny pages. I love them all. Even the horrible ;) Frank Nelson arcs. They’re treasures and we need to appreciate them while we have them.
Sometimes they do seem to move a little slow, I agree. In that case, enjoy the art. It is always first rate.

This explanation makes so little sense that I wonder just how stupid Jim thinks we the readers really are.

Time to get underway.

That last one is a general comics group, but they have GA strips and link some like posts with hashtags like #gasolinealley1940s, #gasolinealley1950s.

Looks like ol’ Ruthless and Jor-El will buy any ol’ line that’s thrown at them.

I knew from the beginning that sooner or later the colander would end up on Rufus’ head.
