That seems to be a sex-linked trait. I clearly distinguish many colors, but only in comparison. Spouse, though, not only remembers about 80 or 100 colors (every piece of furniture, drapes, her clothing, my clothing, the house, the cars, both inside and out, the colors of some of the flowers…) she knows its name.
PS: When it comes to buying light fixtures, I’ve learned that Spouse wants a “warmer” (red) color compared to what I prefer. Outside of my shop, though, what she wants WE get.
“Whereabouts” was originally singular, but over time has become plural: https://www.merriam-webster.com/words-at-play/whereabouts-is-it-singular-or-plural
There was a Shoe comic where the painter comes to the office and the secretary shows him around to the different departments; telling him what color scheme the company wants. She said something like, “We want this office in golden tan, and this one in mocha , and this one in cinnamon sunset …” etc. She asks the painter, “Can you handle that?” He says, “Yep.”
Next frame, he is at the paint store and says, “Give me 5 gallons of brown.”
5 years of retail right out of college (that degree in math sure came in handy, lol) and I had wayyyyyy too many of those customers. There are some really dumb people out there…even the book smart ones.

How many people feel, correctness or lack thereof aside, that “whereabouts are unknown” sounds better?

Anyone who has tried to match a car’s white paint job knows there are many shades of white. Old English, eggshell, refrigerator etc.

I’d like to know what it was that Ray left the store before closing!? An open can of paint perhaps? Proofread before hitting print. ALWAYS.
