When I first moved to my apartment years ago, I found a magnetic 5 hook thing that I put my keys/sunglasses on. If they are not there or in my hand, they are lost.
My wife misplaces her keys, and many other items, around the house or in her handbag. She can appear to be very absent-minded about such things. I keep my keys, watch, sunglasses, etc., in a special drawer that is mine alone, and I know I will find them there. And I generally always know where I put other things that belong to me.
I also see her keeping track of a thousand details at once for her job, and a lot of them in her head. I admire her ability to do that so well, and I often tell her that I know I could never handle it.

Always put your keys in the same place, no matter what. You can always find them then.

My wife will ask me where something is, which seems to jog her memory almost 100% of the time.

I’ve started asking my wife to remind me of things as a trick to help me remember them. It really does help to say it out loud.

Sometimes, with my wife and I and where we put things and when we have done things, there is a stupid song involved – just so we remember.

My husband doesn’t care, he tosses things around but he knows that as I walk through the house I take note of what items are where.

Interesting how our minds work.
