If Mike fired all of Kim’s friends, does that mean that the 149 remaining coders aren’t Kim’s friends? That means that if he’d instead fired fifty of those coders, everything would be as well as could be reasonably expected. Like I said earlier, he should have brought her into the loop right away. Oh well.

Bad move Kim. If you are let go you can claim unemployment, when you quit it’s much harder. Thought she was supposed to be smart?

So not only did he show a lack of personal integrity, he also doesn’t have faith in her skills (assumes she can’t get another job). Of course she’s going to peace the f right outta there. He’s going to have to work to make this right.

I too once chose a job over a woman, who coincidentally was Korean and named Kim (although Kim was her last name). It was absolutely the worst choice I ever made in my entire long life.

Bad move…Mike assumed she’d be grateful that he “chose” her…definitely should have talked to her first…

How is it self-respect to choose your girlfriend at the expense of someone else? Self-respect means that you do the right thing. And it’s not to choose your girlfriend over someone else.

No good deed goes unpunished. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

My friend who was promoted to manager and given the assignment to lay off everyone in the department solved the problem by quitting himself.

Dude shoulda just walked out the door in the first place.

Actually, firing Kim might be a good move for both Mike and Kim. First, we are given to believe that she’s a super-programmer, and probably would have no trouble finding a (probably better) job elsewhere. Second, this would remove Mike&Kim from any charges or suspicions of favouritism or nepotism.

She should’ve been first then maybe she could’ve helped her friends getting the news. Whoops. LOL
