Substitute the word experienced for career and itâs in the bullseye. Socrates was one of best at âteachingâ his students to reason out a sensible solution to their own questions. Great teachers follow that model whether or not they actually realize it as it happens.
A teacher is charged with the enlightenment of rooms full of multi-variable intellects, One can never say for sure which or if any student gets it. But a teacher must, at the end of the day. believe that at least one student has benefited from that dayâs effort. On such slim reeds is oneâs career delicately balanced. To think otherwise is to say one has failed.
Itâs unfortunate that to some, the word âcareerâ when associated with teacher has come to have a pejorative sense. My wife was a âcareerâ teacher, she gave it all she had and it took a strip off her.
We constantly pursue âstuff.â We are sold stuff on an incessant basis, by people who insist that their stuff will improve your life. Bring you happiness. Make things better. Put a smile back on your face.
Then you have a child, and realize that stuff isnât as important as love, family, or friends.
This feeling lasts for about 4 years, until the child⊠starts demanding stuff.

Cleaning out two garages should certainly give Caulfield lessons in organization.
