Because she’s an idiot? My current car had all that crap on it too. Automatic headlights, beeping locks. Turned all that off. If you can’t remember to turn off the lights on your own car, maybe you shouldn’t own one. Hate those “honk-honk-honk-honk” people. Read the d**n instruction book!

    Whew! I feel better now.

What time does she do this? Can’t Betty and her husband talk to her? Enlighten her?

Make a recording of it, aim some large speakers at her house, play the recording 1 hour after she gets home!

The side street by my place is full of car alarms.

    Stupid.

No houses face that street, just back to back side yards…

so these are all on cars parked half a block away and around the corner from where their owners live.

All they do is wake me up, along with the neighbors.

Some are set off by people walking past, or slightly brushing against the car, cos there’s no sidewalk…

maybe the wind…. or occasionally even by a break-in, but I doubt it.

The owners don’t hear them, the police don’t hear them, or care.

They don’t take pictures or call anyplace automatically… not the owners, the law, or an alarm service…

and if they did, any miscreants would be long gone by the time anyone got there.

Sometimes they go off for half an hour, destroying everyone’s sleep, till they shut off or the owners arrive, I don’t know which.

    Whats the point?

I wish everyone would disable them.

Had a neighbor that did this. Asked her to silence it, she said she didn’t know how. I explained that I left the house at 5AM every day. After the second morning, she was able to figure it out.

When I was “between husbands” I lived in an apartment. One of the neighbors rode his motorcycle to work – at 1:30 in the morning. Vroom, vroom, cough, cough, rattle, rattle, bang! And do it again, before finally roaring off.

I see it bothers a lot of you. But that short beep beep never bothered me. Typically small noises like that, if it nothing important, I go right back to sleep.

Well, “shave and a haircut, two bits” would be a bit much, no?"

My wife’s car beeps gently when you lock the doors. My truck beeps the horn. So I usually use the lock button on the door so nothing beeps and my neighbors don’t break out the armament.

If it’s like my car when using the fob, 1 beep when you lock it and 2 beeps to unlock. It would seem they are checking if it’s locked. Either that or they’re intentionally doing it to irritate you for some reason.

I feel your pain! My neighbor’s son has a loud car and he leaves for work at 5:30am! I’ve talked to him about it and even told him that there are things that you can put on your car so that its quiet at night and you can change it to be noisy during the day. Of course nothing has changed. I’ve had to start sleeping with ear buds. Hope he moves out someday!

One honk to set the security system, one more honk to make sure it is set, then go halfway inside, then turn around and give one more honk to really make sure.

You must be joking. If people think it bothers you…they will do it MORE often.

My car doesn’t (usually) beep, but it does have a flashing light on the dashboard to show the doors are locked. (Or conversely, a light on the dashboard that doesn’t flash to tell the burglars the doors are unlocked and help yourselves..)
