I once had to rescue my son from a tree. The problem was is that he climbed way up where the branches could support his weight. At 200+ pounds, they could not support mine. I had to “talk him down” to my level.

You know what they say about landings you can walk away from. Actually, wait, since they’re that high up, does it really count as a landing they can walk away from?

One of my all-time C&H favorites…

I saw a horse skeleton about 15 feet up a tree on an old mountain road once. Dad told me the snow was a lot deeper in the winter and the horse hid from the wind behind the tree and died. Now I have to wonder, how the heck did the horse get on top of 15 feet of snow?

Epic!

I envy them. All cartilage and stuffing.

That must be one tough wagon. Still has all its wheels.

I know you’ve deceived me now here’s a surprise. I know that you have ‘cause there’s magic in my eyes.

I guess parents don’t allow it much these days, but when I was small 60 years ago a necessary ritual for every young boy was to climb so high in a tree they were afraid to climb back down. That sort of takes the fun out of the great view, but it was either climb down or spend the night in the tree. It was a great lesson to be sure you have a way out of any situation you might get yourself into.

Silly ol Calvin!

This is the kind of strip I think about whenever there’s a babysitter arc. Calvin tends to just roam around the countryside, completely free from authority, except when his parents suddenly decide he needs to be watched.

Always loved his Sunday escapades where they go flying off a cliff in either the wagon or a toboggan and it is always high enough to make even Wile E. Coyote take notice!

That shoulda been me neither and not me either?
