Earl you need to get yourself one of them boot jacks. It would save Opal a lot of pain.

While at it, Sylvia, help Earl get the other boot off. Then help Opal take away the boots to a thrift store or somewhere that Earl cannot find them.

I’ve received this exact same phone call…which is weird ‘cause my name isn’t Sylvia.

My father would have us straddle his leg and grab the heel of his boot while he pushed us on the backside with his foot. A fond memory.

There are worse places for Opal to land than the clothes hamper… I’m surprised Earl didn’t tell her that. It would be SO like them.

I had an interesting time trying to explain to an Ecuadoran Customs official what the antique boot jack in my luggage was. I actually wound up demonstrating its use – they’d never seen one before.

My Ecuadoran wife thought it was an ornate doorstop, the first time she saw it!

Made me laugh.

I’m guessing we won’t see those BOOTS anymore…..

My mother actually fell backwards into a laundry basket and had to call my sister and her husband to come get her out. Lucky she had her cell phone in her pocket. My brother in law did take pictures and laugh at her before he helped her out.
