Hurts just as bad when the mom makes the empty promises. As if it wasn’t hard enough being the custodial parent in the 80’s. Thank God for Grandma. I know comics are supposed to be funny but this one stings a little. Band, plays, baseball, Disney. An always came back sun burnt and missing something.
my niece and nephew sat by the door every holiday and birthday from 2 until 20, because their “dad” said he would visit. He never showed. Children have a bond with biological progenetors. They did not grow to be better parents or learn anything from this.
Destruction of the nuclear family is a big problem in our society today. Yes, I understand many valiant single parents (usually mothers) are doing the best they can. I’m just saying…
If Kevin’s dad is going to be a no-show, deadbeat, maybe Miles Dad, Gene, could take them. Ooh, or maybe Miles’s mom, sounds like she’s “into” wrestling;)
This brings back so many sad memories. My dad let us down so many times doing crap just like this. The only thing he would show up for was when we went hunting. I think it was because we had a bunch of reloaded ammunition.
i cant imagine the pleasure one gets from reneging on a promise to someone it meant the world to. my heart goes out to the person whose world just collapsed.

So maybe Gene can take them, but they’ll need another ticket.

Broken promises is worse than a absentee parent. The “adult” is teasing interest.

Our old man never called, just made us wait on the front porch until we figured out on our own that he wasn’t going to show up.

Sadly, we knew this was coming. If they have the tickets then I’m sure Mile’s dad would take them.

I’m glad Kevin has a friend in Miles. He’s gonna need him.
