I too loved our school building—just hated going to class. Our school was the only one in town with its own library. That would have been enough, but the solid brick building with hardwood floors really appealed to me. Loved learning, shame about the class interaction.
No, the school custodian told the supertintendent who sent out a maintenance crew: two to watch the one who applied the cement and set a new brick in place. For a building to get a new brick is like you or me getting a haircut.
Now that I’m older than dirt, it’s interesting to revisit buildings from my youth, such as my old school, my old home I grew up in, old city buildings I haven’t seen for over 50 years, even buildings from old photos that are much older – and see (with some) that little or nothing has changed. It’s like stepping back through a time tunnel.

Hey wait a minute, where’s the brick you threw at Chuck. It should be missing.

Happiness is a… school… building. Huh. I’m starting to think this entire storyline was actually stupid. Eh. Who cares.

Sally talks to the school building every day and nobody cares. Charlie Brown does it once and gets sent to the principal’s office.

I don’t see much future in their relationship. I mean, the vast difference in their ages…

The brick & mortar building is understating its gravity. Most of the students love to visit the alma mater.
