Why can’t you hear a pterodactyl go to the bathroom? The p is silent.

Ptrue story: I made second place in my school’s fourth grade qualifiers for the citywide spelling bee by spelling ‘ptomaine’ correctly. ;-) Got an engraved pen for it. ;D

When I was growing up in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, there was a bar and restaurant called Ptomaine Ptommy’s. I asked my dad what that meant and how to pronounce it, and he explained that the P was silent, as in swimming.
