Now I’m remembering a song…. Heather Alexander had performed “Black Unicorn,” from the point of view of a demonic unicorn. Then Bob Kanefsky wrote parody lyrics to make it into “White Unicorn II” – about a unicorn plushy. And he persuaded Heather to sing it. (He probably didn’t have to persuade very hard; you can pretty much hear her fighting down giggles as she sings.)

One of the last stanzas is the unicorn plushy’s dismay as it realizes it’s been given as a present to an adorable little girl: “Her heart’s too pure and will not melt, and she is as cute as me!” (Pout very audible in Heather-as-unicorn’s voice.)

So, Marigold is weak to cuteness. I’ve never seen that pony show about friendship, but what would happen if she saw it? Would she be trapped by the cute characters or rage against the inaccuracies of horses and magic?

Does that franchise even feature unicorns? My only knowledge of it is from parodies.

That is weapons-grade cuteness right there. Should I be standing behind a blast shield?

Calvin actually did that once in preparation for asking his mom for a flamethrower. And there’s a good feeling that not even that worked.

The ultimate test would be for Phoebe to ask her patents for a baby sibling.

The horn was the whole point of hunters going after and killing unicorns or be killed by unicorns. Said to have a purity they would never measure up to.
