Judging from the colouring, Gordon did at least change his shirt. Judging from Tracey’s clothing, this is not one of those kind of dances that you dress up to go to.
Michael has gangrene. (I imagine this wouldn’t be an issue if the strip was in b&w, you’d just think the shading was meant to be that healthy blushing color of an inflamed—nah, it’s definitely gangrene!)
Ultimately, even though I know how this ends, I feel bad for Tracey. Mike stood her up because of a zit. I’m pretty sure there was a type of Clean and Clear for men in the 90s, he could have at least attempted to get rid of the zit on his own. Sending Gordo in his place helps, but I just don’t like women (or men) getting stood up.
Also yes, I know it could also be because of family situations, but my point still remains. Don’t stand people up.
If this were done today, there would be no surprises for Tracey, because there would be a lot of texting back-and-forth between these kids. This is what happens when you take a 30 year old comic strip and re-run it, trying to pass it off as being set in the present day.
I completely misremembered this. I even went back and looked at the old strip. I remembered it as Mike dumping Tracey at the dance, and Gordon consoling her and taking her home, Did the whole thing get retconned to make Mike seem like less of a jerk?

Mentally wigged out. Yeah, let’s go with that.

Yup, Gordon. You’ve got that exactly right.

I don’t know about that diagnosis, I mean to be mentally, you first have to have a mind, right?

I’m wondering how many girls at the dance have zits and are self conscious about them. ;/

Well… Gordo is not telling a lie. All that story for a zit!

Gordon should recognize mentally wigged out, since he has done it a few times himself!

IIRC, don’t Tracey and Gordon turn into an item, and eventually marry and have 2-3 kids?

I would have said exactly the same thing.

Atta boy! Go with the truth! Women always find out the truth.

I wonder if Gordon ever told Tracy about Mike’s zit.

Or as the Brits say, “gone flippers”. J/K, I don’t really know what the Brits say.

I believe that!

Thanks a lot Gordo. That will comfort her

Isn’t Traci the girl Gordo ends up marrying in the other timeline?

Or did Mike do that to someone else?
