Mark Twain – The difference between the almost right word and the right word is really a large matter— ’tis the difference between the lightning bug and the lightning -
Story had it that Truman Capote spent all day in front of a typewriter before typing a single word. When asked about it, he said, “Yes, but it was the right word.”
The Beagle Has Landed… The Great Beagle… The Beagle in the Rye… The Beagle… The Beagles of Wrath… The Beagle Comedy… The Beagles Karamazov… The Beagle and the Sea… The Beagle Tales.
I put in a temporary word & color it blue or something. I’ve also seen the tip to throw in a stand-out word like “elephant;” unless your setting is the savannah, you can search for that word & replace it later.

Just like chess players, who will stare at the board for an hour and then move a pawn one square forward.

Maybe Snoop should be starting with different article, or even a pronoun to get into the story.

Seems like a dog would always want to start a story with a sentence involving going for a walk.
" The man and dog went for a walk on a dark and stormy night…"

I have no idea why he would be agonizing over that. After all, ALL great novels begin with “It”
txmystic over 3 years ago
Perhaps he’s revising his magnum opus to The Night was Dark and Stormy …
