Thinking there has got to be some back story here. Maybe they were discussing sending Mother Gargle packing, and while one of them is willing to consider all options, the other one is dead set against it. In any case, not too bright bringing Wilberforce into the discussion.
Perhaps if he listened and responded to her like an adult, she would not be so unhappy and end up making a comment like that, which, by the way, should not be directed at their child.

Brutus, like Rodney Dangerfield, gets no respect.

Maybe Brutus hears you Gladys, but chooses to ignore your irrelevant babbling or insults. You certainly are your Mother’s daughter.

I have been hearing that one for years.

Gladys, I honestly DO NOT know why Brutus married a hag like you. You’re incorrigable and cruel!

A very corny joke… Poor Brutus. He should give her the old zam boom to the moon!

I never realized that Gladys was so big. Brutus needs a step stool to look her in the eye. And if he used one she would probably push him off.

Brutus has a sophisticated hearing filtration system. The Gladys setting is in one ear and out the other.

Not funny and not nice. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree in her family, sadly. Bet she makes her mother proud though……

Well, your dialog is a bit of a turn-off.

What has ears, but can’t hear, a bill, but can’t sing, and wings but can’t fly? A dead bird.

That’s exactly what I was thinking before Gladys answered…

Maybe Brutus should try the Ralph Kramden approach, “To the moon Gladys, to the moon”.

Way to go, Gladys. Put your husband down in front of your child. That’s being a good role model. /S

Glady’s probably anger with Sir Brutus about not liking Moma Gargle coming early to visit to practice her Halloween stunts. Boo

I like Wilberforce’s response to Gladys’s riddle more than I like what Gladys said.
