Very inventive. Just the sort of thin Caulfield enjoys. He demonstrates a recent find in the news of an insect frozen in amber and umpty centuries old. But he is taking a chance as not all sugar-loving ants and bees will have gone dormant by this time of year. .
When I was in college a “friend” asked us to watch his trailer over the Christmas holiday while he visited his parents. He had a waterbed, we put several cases of Lime Jello in the bladder, sloshed it around to mix, then turned the bed heater off opened the windows and closed his bedroom door. Two days later we had almost a ton of Lime Jello.
We almost died laughing when he came home and jumped on the bed. Of course after that we had to cut the bladder up to get rid of the stuff and buy a new bladder, but totally worth it!!
I recall 15 years ago, when “For Better or for Worse” introduced mild animation on its website, usually in the form of characters blinking. Ryan North of “Dinosaur Comics” fame said that such minimal movement made them looked like they were trapped in amber.

I’m not getting the “no time at all” comment. Maybe it’s low blood sugar. Should probably go eat some candy …

Playing a bug trapped in amber vs wearing a Charles Brown shirt.

Can someone tell me the book he is implying? I can’t find anything that fits the theme.

And the rampaging dinosaur is played by Caulfield’s mother after she saw the tub.

“Forever Amber” indeed! He was probably thinking “Jurassic Park”, but didn’t want to wear a mosquito nose all night.

Um. Billy in Slaughterhouse-five is referred to as a bug in amber, and he keeps getting shunted in time.

It will last until he needs to use the facilities. He must have walked to school, too.

It takes refrigeration to set up Jello – the kid would have just been a dripping mess of sugary sticky liquid.

Slaughterhouse-Five, you widgets! I doubt Mallett is even aware of Forever Amber.
