Bedtime is when the mind is free to bring up all the stuff that was ignored or sidetracked in a daily schedule. Doesn’t matter what – memories, not dones, to do’s, maybe’s, unwanteds, an ever expanding list.
Get get up at 5 AM work out and then do a full day’s work. I keep going and stay active all day.
By 10 PM, I can’t stay awake. I do get up in the middle of the night to get rid of some of that water I’ve been drinking all day right up until bedtime. I enjoy going back to sleep.
Occasionally, I have a nagging personal problem that might prevent me from getting back to sleep – a couple times a year.
Of all the gifts God gave me, being able to get a good night’s sleep is one of the most appreciated.
One of the things that works for me on the occasions when my mind is too annoyed to sleep is read. Find some good fiction and escape. I used to spend almost an hour every night to read. Now I lay down, open the book, read a paragraph, wake up and turn off the light.
Probably the worst thing you can do is watch TV either immediately before or while in bed. I guess the same goes for social media. Aside from the content, the bluish light is said to affect the brain’s “wake center.” Lighting (other than sunlight) does not affect me personally, but I guess other people have different sensitivity to it.

I hated to take naps when I was a kid; now I miss them.

Because you’re finally able to escape—that energizes you!

Back before the Internet I’d wake up and clean the house. Play “pick up and put away”, dust, mend, etc. Now, I read the comics at 1 AM.

I never have a problem sleeping. Once my head hits the pillow I am asleep and do not wake up til 6:00 AM when it is time to take the dogs out.
