3 news outlets and they were all pretty much the same. Now it’s “Pick your bias”.

When I was a kid, we had three NEWS outlets. Now, we have none….

I’m guessing that this is acknowledging “The Wizard of Id” comic – which creators call a “shout out”. :-)

I think that a real town crier works at ground level. “The Wizard of Id” has government announcements from a castle tower, which should have the advantage that the announcer doesn’t get assaulted by citizens when the news is bad, like higher taxes.

Muslims have a muezzin who announces prayer times from a specially built tower, which Wikipedia says is partly for acoustic reasons and partly a monument for show. Other announcements aren’t mentioned and probably aren’t made. Nowadays, there may be loudspeakers in the minaret and the muezzin speaks into a microphone at ground level – of course the microphone can’t be next to the loudspeakers.

All these news outlets seem to be saying the same thing.
