Sequins can’t hold a candle to glitter.

As of 2021, know of anyone who has a shag rug?

They used to have rakes for long-shag carpet, maybe that would help.

Marcie is going to take up dancing. Yep, she’s going to cut a rug.

Never seen a shag rug, but shag carpet was commonplace a while back

Marcie should have asked Liberace for advice on sequins.

Not only the shag rug, but I love the touch Schulz added in Panel 1: the mid-century lampshade with the ruffles.

While it is 1974 in the strip, it would have been more than likely for someone to still have an old style lampshade around (and the stylish Modern furnishings too…)

Shag carpet! Oh the memories! (mostly bad) My wife was sewing a lot back then and had a bad habit of dropping straight pins in the carpet! (like everyone else, we now have only hardwood and tile, much better)

Of course, in the UK, ‘shag’ has a completely different meaning….

And don’t roller skate in a buffalo herd.

Was I the only one who thought that was Charlie Brown wearing a lampshade in the first panel?

Almost as bad as a pinch of glitter falling on a shag rug. Or a Persian carpet. Or linoleum. Or a concrete floor. Or a hardwood floor. Glitter is just evil, even in just a pinch. You can’t truely clean it up no matter how hard you try. You could drop a pinch, clean it up so the floor looks brand new, keep glitter out of the house for a decade, cleaning the floor at least five times a week in that time, and suddenly you’ll find some right there in the middle of the floor.

Have he put the unfinished dress on, slather it in Elmer’s glue, and have her roll on the floor. Problem solved.
