I see this at work a lot or on the streets in real life. Just when you think you know a person… All of a sudden they turn into Fred Flintstone when he got angry in the cartoons.
We all have triggers. Every one of us. The trick is to avoid, or trip, (as the mood takes us) this trigger for the good, or amusement, of the majority not presently tripping.
I remember being forced to wear a skirt or dress to school every day for 13 years. If it was horrendously cold while waiting for a bus, we could put on slacks underneath, but had to remove them asap after entering the school. No jeans, no sweatshirts, boys had to wear collared shirts tucked in and wear a belt. This was public school, not private, and no uniform. Just a tremendous amount of rules, and even no sandals. We were told the rules existed to get us used to wearing the type of clothes we would wear in our future jobs. Of course, this was during the days when most women were expected to marry young and never work.
Politics is not an acceptable subject with neighbors. I do not talk politics with most of my family or most of my friends, life is too short. It was not allowed where I worked.

Snappers were common in the marsh near our house. That’s why nobody would ever go wading in it.

He could’ve worked for Al Jaffee of Mad® magazine if he was really any good at it.

Snapping Turtles get a bad rep, just because your toes and fingers look like food.

I’ve often wondered – is a snapping turtle dangerous? Or is that a myth? (if he got a hold of your finger)

No joke. That’s enough to ruin anyone’s day. A sad state of affairs with all the division and discord being sown.

Politics must exist in reptiles too, since it triggers the fight or flight response in the brain

Unfortunately they are tortoises not turtles. Turtles have flippers for swimming. Tortoises have legs for traveling on land.
