It was a strange film. But i liked it.

I really do not like movies made from books I’ve read. The movie directors never cast the parts the way I would. In high school I like to read script for plays since I knew how they should be staged.

The new one is so much better, it has less sting in it

The new one seems forced to me. Like it is trying to do the same scenes from the movie instead of the book and isn’t sure that it can do it.

Poor Roy. His head has turned green.

I haven’t seen the new version yet. I liked the previous one, but it missed what I liked best about the books. I especially enjoyed the back story of how a scientific, mechanized society becomes a feudal society of zealots and highly specialized (evolved?) people. It’s hard to put that in a 2-hour movie.

I’m going to reserve my opinion until I see the second part, but I’m irritated that Villeneuve & Warner Bros. split it.

I’ve grown to like the Lynch version.

I prefer the two early 2000s miniseries.

Never watched the original and I don’t plan on watching the new one. It just never interested me. Am I in a minority here?

I liked the original version and the SciFi miniseries version, I wish they would have continued doing the books. The new one was ehh

I tried cleansing my movie palate by watching something very far away from “Dune” before watching this new iteration. It worked. Looking forward to Part II of Dune.

They were two different moves in two different eras. Each has its own good points and bad points. Film technology has come a long way since the original Dune.

I found the old one rather boring. Odd, since I liked the books.

Some say the new one is dune much better. :)

But what does he think of “Foundation?”

The David Lynch’s one has changed the way science fiction movies are made. This… will probably have zero impact on that side.

It was as good as the book. That means it was equally terrible. Bene Gesserit mysticism makes Dr. Phil look deep.

The first film ended for me the minute I saw a pilot. I mean, they say in the books that those are people, not slugs! After that I went back to the books.

I like BOTH.

I rarely watch movies made from books that I have read. They leave out too much, and I find myself thinking or saying where’s the… or … was supposed to happen after … And I read Dune back in the late 70s/early 80s, so won’t watch any of the movies. May re-read the book, though.

Dune started playing about three weeks ago locally. The reviews were good but I’m holding off until the final run theater has it, less of a wait for the second part film.
