    Salad appeals more to the eye than the nose. Baked dishes appeal to the nose. A burger hot off the grill appeals to everything.

    I hate salad. I strongly dislike the vast majority of vegetables. Mixed, they become worse. i eat salad because my wife guilts me into it. I use many ounces of Walmart sweet French dressing on it to make it slightly palatable. Say ‘YES’ to the burger.

    Salad with a dressing do emit a scent, sometimes a very tasty nose tickler. Probably why they were originally added.
