Sorry, Spud—no impromptu adoptions!

Nobody wants to claim Spud, apparently even his real mother.

Even my characters who live at the Girls Home do not call their house mothers “Mom”. And many of them are their teachers at the school as well. :)

The teacher doesn’t want that kind of connection with her students. I agree with her. Spus, back off!

Spud is so proud of himself… that was very sweet of him… awkward, but sweet!

Mom-teach: “Go to your homeroom, young man.”

He meant to saw “wow”, but it’s upside-down day!

Spud is working it for a better homework grade!

She called him “Spud”. That is the first time I remember the teacher calling him by his name.

I smell an interesting narrative coming up.

I called my teacher “Mom” when I was in third grade. It did not feel right, it felt embarrassing.

There were only two teachers during my youth that I could have accidentally said Mom to and it would have felt right had I done it. Thanks Moms for all you did……

I had teacher’s kids in several of my classes with those teachers. The kids never did this.

Man I did this once and got crap for it the rest of the week!

My wife is a high school teacher and she still gets this occasionally.
