In our family’s old recipes, the secret was always bacon grease. I guess it couldn’t be that here in this family! It could be olive oil, real butter, sour cream instead of milk, or something like that. Then again, a dash of salt in a sweet recipe or a dash of sugar in a savory one will often go unidentified, but really make it taste better.
