Those thoughts being the materials needed, the number of hours appropriate each day to work on it, the costs, the advantages, the disadvantages and how Calvin could possibly ruin it all which ultimately leads up to the answer being a big fat “NO!”
The very best thing about sledding is that the kids come in from it all worn out. And they actually WANT to take a warm bath and then eat warm soup (at least as long as it avoids eggplant). win-win-win
Our farm had no hills for sledding. i had to wait until the snow built up enough that i could walk up the snowbank onto the barn roof, and then sled off the roof. God forbid i aimed for a spot where the snow bank didn’t quite meet the barn.
I had a sled hill near home where a farmer ran a rope from a tree pully wheel at the bottom of the hill to a tractor wheel at the top. We used the rope to pull us on our sleds back up the hill. It was great. The law made him stop. Some crap about safety and liability and such.
A long time ago (why do all my comments start with this?) I had a chance to rent an apartment close to a ski area. The agent said she really wanted to rent the place to a man because “there is some snow shoveling involved” I was insulted and told her I was perfectly able to shovel snow. “I’m sure you are, dear”, she said, “but can you throw it over your head?” I found another place to rent.

Unlike yesterday Calvin took off his boots before traipsing around the house. There’s hope for him yet.

It appears that Dad has heard that request enough, that he’s just going to let it slide.

Not for a j-bar lift! Hook the sled right up to that bad boy!
hagarthehorrible about 3 years ago
The expense of installing the lift do not even out the consequences, hence it stays that way, Calvin.
