The wife always overbuys for the grandkids but it’s hard not too if one can.

A friend complained that her kids kept buying more stuff than she wanted them to spend every year. She said they just wouldn’t listen. I asked her if she bought more than they wanted, and she said yes. I asked how she could expect them to listen to her if she won’t listen to them? Hmmm.

It took me many years to learn Arlo’s lesson.

Many years ago, my new bride and I celebrated our first Christmas together. At my request, she gave me a list of possible gifts and I bought every single item on her list. I also bought one that wasn’t. I have never lived that one down. In addition to clothes, jewelry, perfume, I also bought….a new vacuum cleaner.

Lesson well learned….

You just can’t win sometimes. They say you don’t have to buy me anything, and if you don’t, you wind up in the doghouse.

Merry Christmas

Most of our extra money goes into travel. As presents, my wife gave me a jacket and sunglasses to replace the ones I lost on our last trip (and a set of Batman DVDs). I gave her three packs of her favorite chocolates and a promissory note for a new camera (mine wore out, and her current one is heavier than she likes to carry, so I’ll take it over).

I am like Waldo.

This is pretty much the definition of “the voice of experience.”
