This is something a kid would do and like, but I am often surprised at what they DON’T like… My 3 or 4 year old son was at the doctors for a checkup, and we were put in the examining room to wait. My son wanted to be picked up immediately and put on the table, though it might be a while till the doctor came in. I was surprised and asked why, and wouldn’t he rather play one of the little games we would play while he was still on the floor, and he said “I don’t want the doctor to pick me up with his hairy hands!” (The Doctor DID have a lot of hair on the back of his hands and fingers… funny though…. he was half bald!)
I spent yesterday mostly reading and doing puzzles with a 2-year-old, when not running to the potty for training. They love the reading, usually, even if they know every word and picture. I think they find comfort in the repetition in the same books. I don’t allow TV time at my house. She rarely even mentions it, even though she is very much used to a TV on all the time elsewhere. Alice reminds me sometimes of my child when younger. Also myself!
Funny, I never noticed before that Richard draws his characters with all four fingers and a thumb, unlike most comic characters. I’m sure there are others, too.
Its amazing hat kids remember, and hold dear from growing up. My step daughter rmembers me coming home from work, hen I walked in the door she sad she was cold, so I wrapped her up in my warm work coat, andlet her cuddle up to me. Nearly 30 years later she still tells that story.

I’m not seeing Calvin and Hobbs tonight. I really hope they won’t stop doing Cul de Sac too…I would miss it terribly.

Sweet Alice for a change. How nice that his daughter likes to see Peter Otterloop’s chin wiggle! That is a memory to cherish!
