I loved the blizzard days growing up in Wyoming. I never had any anxiety over food running out and my mom always made homemade donuts. When we could get out, drifts to the roof tops were good for climbing and tunnelling. And those were, of course, no-school days.
This is husband’s fear every announcement of snow, every year. He is terrified of being snowed in.
Last year came close – we had storms around twice a week – first storm dripped a couple of feet of heavy snow and I thought he would be going to the hospital. I had to figure it out step by step – cleared behind car and sides of same so we could back into the road (hah! not on this street – 4 lane main road – but I convinced we could). Day later used snowblower across main part of driveway (small semi-circle). Day still later cleared other end of driveway to street. Next cleared front of car (between car and RV van). Then cleared the snow around our van which sits in the semi-circle of the driveway. Took over week to do all of it – and we had 3 lanes (2 driving, one parking) of snow pushed by plows into the bottom of each side – multiple times/days. Then a week later – repeat and rest of winter was similar. We are suppose to clear the sidewalk – but if we did we would no place to put the snow we were moving as our driveway runs from one side of our small property to the other.
Right now he hears somewhere that we are to get 14 inches the end of the week and he is not doing well anticipating it. We are in our late 60s and not in the best of health – and he is made weaker by some of his meds and gets upset when I do the bulk of the clearing in fear something will happen to me (and how he will get by without me – his thought, not mine).

Adam has enough snack food in his office to get them through until spring, unless he eats it all in a one day panic
