Yesterday I saw a squirrel in our little lowland forest and wanted to photograph it but it was so quick, I couldn’t catch it. It’s impossible, Rover, sorry!!
I am not old and played hockey for years, but thank God there isn’t any ice out there. 5 years ago my Rugby pulled down on the ice and my shoulder hit the curb. That took two years to get full range motion back. ICE BAD
Uh, Red, releasing the leash was not an option? I’m sure Rover would not stray very far from you and that way you would not have gotten pooped! Anyway, have fun my little darlings!
I opened the door one night with our late doberman on a leash, only to see a baby skunk staring at us from maybe 20 feet away. He lunged at that skunk so fast I swear I went airborne, before being dragged across that 20 feet of muddy ground!
My dog was a hunter before I got her. She was trained to ignore animals that aren’t rabbits. I love the trainers who did that! She even seems to ignore rabbits when I can see them, but let her smell one little track on the ground. She doesn’t run, she’s a champion hunter, but she will sniff like a vacuum cleaner, eventually yip (calling other dogs, I assume) and when we get to YIP!!! I have to change the direction of our walk. I don’t want to deny her the joy of following the scent, but I also don’t want to wake up all my neighbors at dawn. “Yip” is not the same sound my other two beagles made (untrained for hunting), it’s a new beagle sound for me. I like the howl and miss it.

Birds or squirrels have no right to be where Rover is. And he’ll let them know.

My first dog, Sandy, would chase anything that moved—and once caught a bird that flew out of some shrubs in the park!

My dog’s version is sniff, pee, walk 2 feet, sniff, pee, walk 2 feet, and so on.
