Language skills have devolved into mostly using words of 1-3 syllables and fewer of the last. Many novels seem to avoid multi-syllabic words except those where science fiction/fantasy pertains. When one delves into the richly comprised language of earlier times, one is often surprised at its beauty and its ability to express complicated themes and ideas so clearly.
Emojis were invented because it is difficult to convey emotion in text, even for those of us who still use complete sentences. Emojis were over-invented because big companies like Apple and Google found they could get free publicity for announcing “inverted eyebrow on wobbly thing” as the greatest new emoji ever. (ha ha ha)
