IMO, the truth would have worked better. She could have understood, deciding to supervise you while retrieving the letter, witnessing you not touching anything else. Maybe. Maybe not. But the bazooka story… Even being caught by Aaron while opening his locker, and having to explain about the letter, would have been better than spreading such a rumor and having to explain that. A bazooka… Nope. :)
This is a comic strip! It would not have been funny if she had told the truth or even told a reasonable lie. And you have to admit that LuAnn has a great imagination.
I have an unrelated question. Does anyone remember what bread was wrapped in before we had plastics? Was it paper? Waxed paper? I was thinking I want to cut down plastics in my life, yet again, and realized I am wearing polartec every day due to the cold we currently have. Then I started thinking about food. Anyone remember or have a clue? I remember growing up wearing cotton, linen, and wool. Straws were paper, not plastic, etc. But how was bread sold and stored?
At least if they find Bazooka gum, she can claim it was all a mistake.Meanwhile, she’ll never forgive Gunther(now to be known as BOCA GRANDE) for this!

Instant lockdown. Swat teams and bomb squads are on the way. I predict embarrassment in Luanns future.

Don’t laugh.
Had Lu said she thinks Aaron has a gun in his locker, that locker would get opened up real quick.

Luann, when Aaron Hill finds out you made a very serious and false accusation against him, how do you think he will feel about you?

As a teenager some things made a lot of sense, at the time, later on, not so much.
