Meh, Bolling’s humor today is so three dimensional. I’ll take Jim Gaffigan’s tesseract humor any day, especially when he talks about hypercubic bacon!
Often the “artist’s signature,” when shown, is significant, but I can’t make this one out. But I can tell it isn’t “Edwin Abbott Abbott” (author of “Flatland”)… Any guesses?
As others have comment, today’s strip references Edwin Abbott’s classic “Flatland”. The book is in public domain and can be downloaded free from Project Gutenberg: https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/201

Read the book (or look at Cliff Notes) for Flatland, where he derives this. Great way to teach 3rd vs. 4th Dimension concepts.

I remember hearing voices from the Fifth Dimension, always in the form of song.

When you live in one dimension, even a plane is incomprehensible, let alone a solid.

Do sound waves work when you expand or contract the number of dimensions?
