I think Arlo is making a chicken and sausage gumbo. I hope he left out the can of tomatoes sitting on the counter to make it an authentic Cajun gumbo. He and Janis can freeze leftovers.
This is great, I just recently made my, “Green Chile Pork Stew”.The kitchen scene was very similar and I got the same look from my Goddess.I have been making this stew for decades and I still get the look whenever I cook.Art imitates life!
I made Crock Pot Beef Stew yesterday, going to make Biscuits to go with this afternoon. Ya gotta let the stew sit in the frig for a day to get just right.
I use so much garlic that I peel and fine-chop a whole head in the food processor in a generous amount of olive oil, pour the result in a small jar and store it in the refrigerator to be used a dollop at a time. You can buy pre-chopped garlic, but only in quantities suitable for restaurants or other BIG garlic users. Either one can ease the strain on arthritic hands.

I think the trepidation is the thought of stew for the next week.

That’s one step shy of ""dread."

I’ll admit I’m guilty of leaving peppers out of the trinity but how can Arlo hope to make a stew without garlic?

Arlo, Dagwood would be proud of you.

One of the hardest changes for a cook is transitioning from a gallon of stew to a quart at a time.

How I feel when my husband gets into the kitchen. He makes amazing food, but will dirty seemingly every dish!

It looks like a veritable mess!

If I were to cook anything of substance, my Janis would not be filled with trepidation. It would be astonishment.

Man, that sure brought the chefs out of the woodwork.

I have to say that after 5 decades of making 3 course holiday meals for anywhere from 5 to 13 I have NEVER made a mess like that.

They have an agreement. Arlo cooks and Janis cleans up.

I hope Arlo is going to clean up the huge mess he made.

I think she’s more worried about “using every pot and pan in the kitchen” aspect of Arlo’s cooking.
