Liz is not going to be all that happy. She thought the new remodel was going to be her area. Instead she will just be upstairs with Mike and April or Mike gets his space and Liz and April share theirs. That was the deal my sisters got when we changed house. The upstairs was unfinished with no walls, but it Was All Mine! Just had to keep in mind that as people came up the stairs, once someone’s head was above floor level they could see whatever I might be doing.
Queen bed? Why not king size? Queen is only 3 -4 inches wider than a full size which I assume you’re been sleeping on in your upstairs bedroom. King size is equivalent to two twin beds put together. You and John’d have your own space of a twin size rather than sharing overlapped spaces.
The carpenters arrived this morning and they started working on a new bedroom? There must be some mistake with continuity. The carpenters actually arrived 4 days ago and they started work 3 days ago to tear down the back porch.
That’s the only way to go… The master bedroom needs to be more of a master suite… Large bedroom, large walk-in closet… two large walk-in closets if you’re really lucky…large bathroom with two sinks and the toilet in its own compartment with a fan behind a sliding door, jet-tub and a shower, even a separate sitting room.
“It’s for the kids!” she says. Nobody shovels manure like Elly, we all know full well that she’s trying to get AWAY from the kids and claim the best bedroom for herself!
I worked for a builder several years ago who built a “luxury” tract home that had the master suite downstairs and 3 bedrooms upstairs (each with its own bathroom). One couple took one look at the layout and bought it saying that it was perfect for their three teenage daughters. They couldn’t sneak down the stairs without Mom & Dad knowing about it. (I always thought that if they were that concerned about the girls sneaking anywhere, there was probably a reason. And teenagers are experts at sneaking.)

Complete privacy means they won’t hear disasters upstairs. Spills, head bumps, need for stitches, etc.

A queen-sized bed? Is she saying that she and John currently share a full-size bed? I thought he was a rich dentist.

Adding sound proofing during construction, is easer than waiting until later.

Compete privacy? Downstairs? I think she’s in for a shock.

That sounds pretty good to me. Plenty of room for the dogs on the floor.

What’s the rush with adding another bedroom? Mikes heading to college soon so his room will be available for Liz.

What?? Send the kids to the basement. That’s what I did (they may still be there, for all I know).

Yeah, I thought the bedroom was for the kids too, but I like Ellie’s idea better,

When I saw the music notes and then she mentioned the carpenters I expected her to say they’d only just begun.

Elly better hope the library’s budget was approved. Any layoffs and she is dead.

You move the kids down or move down yourself. The silence will emerge either way.
