They’re teens and should know better. Perhaps their heads have been buried in other things and they are oblivious to what’s going on around them. Social media has nothing to do with the real world at least as far as I could tell before shutting all my accounts down.
I am strongly reminded of all the people who felt compelled to ask me if my lovely black German Shepherd was “some sort of Labrador retriever”. Seriously. It happened time and again over his lifetime. He never took offense, but boy, did it bug the heck out of me.
From the Hills petfood site, for those just dying to know more about Bassets: "The basset hound comes from as far back as the 1500s when the pre-revolutionary French were using low slung, heavy-bodied hounds to trail rabbits. The word “bas” is French for “low” befitting the basset hound’s stature. A number of the short, bowlegged French hunting dogs and the basset hound we recognize today were fine-tuned in England in the 1800s. With the exception of height and leg conformation, they are similar to the St. Hubert’s hound." Bassets are considered 2nd only to Bloodhounds in tracking abilities.

Sorry Fred, some people have no idea about breeds. Maybe they have never met a Basset!

More like an identification crisis, if you ask me. Never mind them, Fred. You’re a fine basset hound whether they know the word or not.

People call my Toy Fox Terriers, Chihuahuas. Not an insult as Chihuahuas are fine dogs, but nothing like a TFT!

Typical of today’s generation! They know very little. I was going to say they know nothing, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt.

I have a charming mutt whose DNA test revealed 16 different breeds including all of the breeds mentioned in today’s cartoon.
