I prefer hauling it to the curb. My other half lives for garage sales. Unfortunately she can only have 2 a year so some things get held over.

What is wrong with Janis’ eye in panel four? The dilation is kinda creepy.

Arlo: Go ahead and start hauling it to the curb. I’ll be there shortly. (muttering under breath: Like next Friday.)

Spring-like weather has come to NE Pennsylvania. Now I’m just not hoping for the late winter storm to sweep in.

I like puttering and repairing things but, don’t rush me. No need to remind me every six months :-)

For our English speaking friends for whom the last panel makes no sense, Janis means the noun “kerb”. They just happen to be spelled the same way in American English.

Are things you value and will use? Have you already replaced them? Or are you just thinking they “could” be useful…someday, for someone? If you have already replaced them or they are in the someday/maybe category, put the things on CraigsList for free and toss them if no one is interested.

If you value them and have a use for them, decide which is more useful – that object after repair, or a replacement. Between the time it takes to repair something and the materials to fix it, replacement may be the better choice.

Man, I’d like to see some pretty days. The weather starts to warm, the predictions are for nice weather a few days out, and then more cold and wind move in. This has been an ugly winter: lousy temperatures but still (well) below average precipitation.

In addition to cleaning, cooking, laundry and being the employed spouse I am in charge of garbage. He does not like to touch garbage plus cannot follow the system our township.

Monday night we are to put out recycling for Tuesday pickup. Originally Town gave us a small square plastic box to use. Their employees drop it in the street when emptied – and we do live on a 4 lane main road with quick traffic, so the box starts being knocked apart as soon as it is used for the first time.

I had to go down to the town sanitation dept once and get a new one – but it was their (then) new, larger one – too large for easy storage in our kitchen entry porch (open kitchen door, toss into box). In-laws were selling their house so I traded my larger for their smaller. Of course that one got damaged beyond use also by being thrown in the road.

Then they decided to give everyone a larger can. In normal times (let alone now) we do not come anywhere close to filling it – and newspapers (which I subscribe to in normal times, currently reading online as don’t want to touch it the same day delivered) could not go in it.

One time we were leaving on a trip on the day they would pickup the recycling and I left in a cardboard box – they took both. So since then I had saving cardboard boxes and putting the recycling out in same.

Well, not doing so on schedule since pandemic started (not enough weekly to put out without the daily papers). So I keep the cans, bottles … in a cardboard box where their box used to be; always stacked papers, flattened other boxes on the work table in the porch.

Husband had some items come during the past year and I have kept the shipping boxes to use when back in normal times. He announced today that “We are absolutely putting the cartons out tonight for pickup tomorrow – even if it is going to rain!” now 1:30 am the next morning – he still has not remembered that he said we were going to do so. They will sit until next week -if dry then
