P1a: “You ran into me? Isn’t that charging?” P4: “Eh tu Hollis”? How testy will “Bestie” Cathy be? Too bad Mimi (apparently) didn’t tell Cathy directly. Pat Summit would never create dramas like this.
Every high school athlete I knew wanted to start. But I haven’t know any who went on to a professional career in sports. Their #1 reason for being there was to be with friends on the team/squad. And I believe they wanted the team/squad to win more than a starting position.
So, unless bestie is counting on a college scholarship for her playing she can accept Hollis taking her place (she’ll grumble but accept it for the good of the team). But if bestie was counting on the scholarship, the fact she lost it to a newcomer at the position says she wasn’t going to be getting one.
Could it be that in honor of Women’s History Month, the authors are demonstrating that the girls’ stories in this strip can be just as interesting and realistic as the boys’?
Yeah, Cathy, being forced to sit in the chair next to the bench is a humiliating demotion. Go drown your sorrows in half a can of hard seltzer. and take comfort in knowing that softball is starting soon and it will be someone else’s turn to star in an even less interesting story arc.
Oh geez. Mimi, being all professional, pulls Hollis into her “office” (probably the ladies room?) to tell her she’s moving into the starting guard position. And the girl being moved to the bench? Not a word, don’t give her the respect to explain the decision to her directly, just let her get surprised on her own eventually. And speaking of eventually, eventually today’s Mopped Up Thorp was going to be posted. And that time is now.

P3- 3/17. Cathy’s shooting stats the past 3 games. Cold blooded someone would Sharpie it on her locker.

Step into my office and be late for your next class. I’m a coach, and my wishes always take priority.

P3 Is Bestie having an episode of EES or is her brain exploding as “captain bestie”, not “coach” Thorp informs her of her demotion?

Any good coach would have broken that news to both players at the same time.

I don’t know, I think Mimi just might be a tad jealous of the way Hollis “meshes” with Maddie, especially after showing up in her 17 year old make-up.

Someone got a chemistry lesson. Unfortunately, I don’t remember her name and I don’t care enough to scroll back

Hollis will offer her a toaster tart and make it all better.
