If you think that controlling CO₂ emissions is a fraudulent idea, then skip the rest of this comment.

Now that we’re agreed we need to reduce emissions. What would YOUR first step be? Might it include the idea of adding a surcharge to the price of gasoline, so people would (complain and) buy less of it? If we’re getting the same effect by a coincidence of timing, is that a good or a bad thing? Just asking. And you will surely note that the “complain” part is DEFINITELY happening.

PS: MY first move would be to regulate the concrete industry. The manufacture of “standard” Portland Cement releases a stupendous amount of CO₂ with the climate effects you are starting to be unable to ignore. There are other ways to make concrete, some of which are much less problematic (and slightly more expensive… but also slightly better in some ways).

Remember how cheap gas was when we are all staying home because of the pandemic? The oil companies cut way back on pumping and refining oil. After people started getting out and traveling again,the oil companies want to make up all that they lost. Also, they have to get all the wells and refineries up and running again. That may be too complicated for some people to understand, but it’s what happened. Now, exactly how much do we want to help Ukranians? Sending thoughs and prayers is good, but are we willing to pay more for gas?

But in conservative hallucination land the poor Ignoble Ignoramus was a victim of a Chinese conspiracy to devise and spread a disease that he did his valiant best to fight by ignoring, downplaying, and distorting.

In this day and age of supply chain disruptions it is good to see that Al can still get his 2 bowls of manure frosted stupid every morning.

Lets start the graph in 2018 (trump’s second year) when gas was $2.75+, it only went down in 2020 because demand was down as people stayed home.

Notice the US id fairy low on the list, compared to most of the industrialized nations. However, if all you care about is cheap gas, you can always move to Venezuela, Libya, or Iran.

Prices were low under Putin’s best friend traitor Trump because he spread covid everywhere and no one was driving.

What I lived was: within days of his inauguration, Biden announced closing the Keystone pipeline and my area’s gas prices, which had been constant and stable for months, went up 5 cents a gallon. Fact. And have been rising ever since. Fact. Partisans can argue at length about why.

Gee, nothing to do with the incredibly increased demand because of the recovery from the pandemic BIDEN ENGINEERED!?

Al Goldwyn is lying to us. In Trump’s last nine months, gas prices weren’t flat, but rose about 30%. In Biden’s first nine months, gas prices rose slightly over 30%, with a spike in March 2021 when the ineptly maintained Texas oil fields froze over and constructed supply. Although US oil production rose under Biden in 2021, world production remains depressed, allowing certain producer countries to manipulate prices upward.

Oil companies, and other energy companies are price gouging, since the Russian oligarchs are going to have a harder time coming up with this years Republican (and Manchin and Sinema) political contributions, so the energy companies are price gouging us so that them and their majority stock holders can make up for those lost campaign donations.

Pretty much sparks why the Citizen’s Divided (United) legislation needs to be overturned as undemocratic.

Is this Russian propaganda? The companies stopped drilling when they ran out of money and no one wanted to invest in them. This happened under TFG who was trying to bankrupt the USA with his pathetic stance on Covid and Putin.
