email for more details.
This is actually a very real problem with texting. With neither face to see nor voice to hear âŠâŠâŠâŠ. was that a joke or a complaint? Did my best friend just betray me?
The Electric Company used to do sketches in which the meaning of a sentence depended on whether it ended with a period, a question mark, or an exclamation point. How they predicted âsmartâ phones, I have no idea.
Of course, you know, you COULD proofread (and correct) what youâve entered before hitting âsendâ instead of blaming technology for your own mistakes.
General public reaction to this comic!! âAWWWWWW!!!!â. Seriously this is an issue not only Apple but Android too. Also donât get me started on Autocorrect.
My wife manages a dental office where she works with many younger women! They told her that if you donât end a sentence in a text message with an exclamation point that it means youâre mad at the person! So now she expects me to end every sentence in a text message with an exclamation point! But, I just canât bring myself to do that!
I have lost count how many times I have made a comment that was taken in the completely way opposite what I meant. I now will spend MUCH time going over and over and editing anything before I âpostâ. It is to the point where I rarely âcommentâ at all (like I am here right now) because it takes so much time and I may still upset somebody.
Best use of ? and ! was by Victor Hugo & his publishers. He wanted to know how his âLes Miserablesâ was selling. Full text of his letter: ?. Full text of the reply: !
Back in the 1950s, a sports reporter from Minneapolis was sent to Florida to cover a speedboat-racing regatta, which was won (as often happened) by the top guy in the game, Garfield âGarâ Wood. The reporter filed his story by wire and went to bed. He was awakened in the middle of the night by a bellboy with a telegram from his managing editor, who wanted one more detail for the story: the champâs age. Western Union charged by the word, and the editor was notoriously stingy, so he kept his query short: âHow old Gar Wood?â
To which the reporter, unamused at having his sleep interrupted, replied âOld Gar Wood fine. How you?â
I turn off all the auto-crud I can find and apple will STILL change things up on you! My son went to Olivet College and it NEVER let me type Olivet, ALWAYS changed it to Oliver! yes I know this comic refers to the spacing, or lack of it, between characters but itâs all part of the painful experience of mobile communicationâŠ
If anyone sees my laughing as Iâm texting, itâs probably because autocorrect is making my message sound silly. If I donât want to send a silly message, I need to be careful with proofreading.
We like to send ourselves texts to remind us to pick something up when we go shopping. One day, my mom was texting duck tape, to remind my dad to pick up some duct tape. As she was typing in duck, my dad and I (we were in the front seat of our car [I was driving]) her her exclaim âI didnât type that.â Having accidentally typed in the âfâ a few times when I was looking up DuckTales, I already knew what she had accidentally typed, and we picked on her for a little bit.

Texting and emails, never really relay the spirit and emotion it was originally conveyed.

Simple solution. Proofread your texts before hitting send. Saves a lot of misunderstanding and heartache.
