Given the situation you have to wonder what prompted John to say what he says in Panel 4. Was that last BANGGG!! the sound of the worker falling from the roof after seeing Elly through the window? John sees him fall and then remembers. Really it’s more for the workers’ safety than anything else.

Get a grip Elly, you’re not naked… If you were, that poor Contractor’s eyes would be bleeding right now…

LOL. Nice one. Especially with Elly looking like a potato sack with some loose socks attached to it- Lynn, despite always looking like a skinny, normal-looking old lady to me, seemed to think of herself as a giant potatobeast, and that always made for some entertaining Elly sequences.

    Lynn’s Comments:

This was a regular occurrence as the renovations continued on our house. Early morning was the worst time as the crew would show up before 8am, and we lived in the woods…which meant few curtains.

Well, if he saw your equipment, he has to marry you now.. Isn’t that the rule?

It IS quite bizarre to see legs directly outside your window! We just got our roof done and it was LOUD!!!

It would appear that the new addition is directly under Elly & John’s old bedroom (Liz’s new room) putting the roof directly outside of that window.

When my husband and I first married we moved into rental property owned by his grandmother. Unbeknownst to us she had arranged for new siding with work to begin the day we got back from our honeymoon. Yikes! I learned to be out of bed and dressed before they got there each day.

When my husband and I were first married, we lived in an apartment with a small opaque skylight in the bathroom. At one point, there was a lot of work being done on the roof; my husband was in the bathroom shaving, heard a noise above his head, and looked up to find that a worker had removed the skylight and was staring down at him. My husband immediately saw the humor and absurdity of the situation and calmly greeted the man with, “Hello!” And the worker, rather than being embarrassed or apologetic or flustered merely replied, “Hi.” I guess it helped that my husband wasn’t naked or doing anything that truly required privacy.
