I would have bet Arlo was going to wax poetic about Sunday night’s Super Full Moon. The Flower Moon will become the Blood Moon during the Total Lunar Eclipse. We will most likely be shut out by clouds.
I did that a time or two. Or four. The waking up to check on my husband because he was breathing so quietly I couldn’t hear him. It is a terrifying feeling. Thank you Arlo for not making things worse when your wife is already charged with adrenaline. Or maybe that is a survival reflex.
Cheyne-Stokes respirations are a rare abnormal breathing pattern1 that can occur while awake but usually occurs during sleep. The pattern involves a period of fast, shallow breathing followed by slow, heavier breathing and moments without any breath at all, called apneas.
My husband will sleep so soundly I sometimes can’t tell if he is breathing or if it is just his CPAP moving his chest. He gets mildly annoyed when I accidentally wake him while checking for his pulse.
My wife used to check me often during the mid of our marriage, now not so much unless I am exhausted. I now check my wife; she has some meds that make her sleep so sound and not move that I just wonder if she is asleep, passed out, or with the Lord.

Was she worried he had finally kicked off in his sleep?

This is a common occurrence for those of us that are “of an age”.

I wonder if some wives secretly wish that their husbands have actually passed. I hope not.

My wife tends to poke me to see if I’m sleeping.

This is why I like to hear a nice, low, gentle snore. It’s relaxing to me and lets me know the other person is still with us.

She should be thankful he doesn’t snore

My wife sometimes does this. I’m usually a restless sleeper and she worries that I’ve had another heart attack and shuffled off this mortal plane.
