A house next to the golf course?  I’d think twice about that!  When I was looking to buy a house I was shown one on a golf course, right on the fairway.  The living room had a big window with a beautiful view.  I asked the realtor about errant golf balls and she said most golfers owned up to it and for those that didn’t the homeowner’s insurance would cover it.  About ten seconds later a ball came crashing through the window and bounced around the room (the house was empty). Luckily neither of us was hit but I looked at her and said “Um, this place is not for me.”  And I’m not even a golfer!

Friends moved to a house next to a golf course. Husband would retrieve balls from their yard all the time and when he had a bucketful he’d sell them to the golf course for their putting green.

I’m sure that somewhere there is a house next to a golf course that is next to a beach. For instance, https://www.shipsticks.com/blog/8-breathtaking-oceanfront-golf-courses/

She doesn’t want to live anywhere near a golf course and have to dodge all those errant golf balls.

This seems to be making a big assumption. Veeblefetzer will never allow him to retire.

Yup, oceanfront golf course is the solution. But they would never be able to afford it….

The building I work in is just off the tenth fairway next to a man made lake. The best of both worlds except I can’t afford to retire.

A compromise would be buying a house right next to a beach on the ‘Golf of Mexico’.

But think of all the money you can make living next to a golf course.

Hilton Head might be their answer. I’ve heard its a great course, and great housing, too.

According to Judge Judy you assume responsibility if you live on the golf course!

And all day long they would hear golfers in the sand trap cursing! My brother rented an apartment near a golf course and he said he could hear golfers talking all the time, because the course was so quiet.

With what Veeblefester pays him, barring a huge lotto win they’ll retire to exactly where they are now.

Not quite the compromise Gladys would go along with. Anyway, I am with her as far as a house by the Ocean goes . Also, ask those golf course homeowners about golf balls hitting their houses and golfers trespassing to retrieve errant shots. Bottom line, he can barely afford Gladys. No way he’s gonna move. Might be able to afford a bigger screen TV though and he could run ocean and golf course screen savers….

I think that’s a less-than-perfect compromise, Brutus; lots of luck trying to persuade Gladys.

In our city, there is a glass house just across the street from a golf course green. It has got to be some sort of an unbreakable substance, unless maybe the house existed there before the golf course was built…

Brutus and Gladys live in a dream world because chances are they are going to retire right where they are currently living, and that’s if they are lucky.

It’s nice to see they are dreaming of the future and expect to be together still. This is something they should have discussed while still single, though.

My friend lived on a Golf Course, and he had several incidents with wayward golf shots, some of which were his own. He was a big time golfer so…

My family rented a house by a golf course for a month. Not a single errant ball, and there was golfing going on constantly.
