What Opal said may seem harsh but it is truthful . Learning to deal with pain in it’s many different forms is one of the parts of life that sucks ;-( …. So move the ball forward and move on ;-)
Nonsense, Opal. At your age you’ve surely learned that an hour of happiness feels like a mere minute, while a minute of sadness seems like an eternity. It’s a subjective thing.
I have a 2X 3" piece of amethyst. A little girl that rode on the school bus I drove gave it to me. Beautiful, many shades of amethyst, from very pale to really dark. I thanked her, sincerely, asked her where it came from. She said, “My uncle Jack gave me a big ball of rock. When I asked him why he said it was because there were pretty colors inside. I didn’t believe him so he got the hammer and hit it. I know you love purple, so this one’s for you.” I still have the rock and 40 years later am still friends with her.

The worst advice ever given by anyone at any time: “Get over it”

Harsh but wise, I suppose. Perhaps Nelson will quote her at Earl’s memorial service.

I wonder if she’d say the same thing if he broke some heirloom vase of hers. I can just see Earl or Nelson saying it to her.

She could tell him about broken hearts but better just to let him start with the little things. :)

No reason to be sad. It’s just “stuff”.Now if a friend was ill or injured then that is a good reason to be sad.
