Some of the people who sold brushes had a side gig as gigolos.

Reminds me of the Watkins man that used to come to our house many years ago… I still miss him !

And when I give you a punch in the belly with one of these encyclopedias and a good kick in the a$$, will YOU then remember ME?

And it only happened yesterday.

Sold (never actually sold a set) encyclopedias one summer. Still remember had wear a suit and tie. Good learning experience.

Still have people (strangers) coming to the door – delivery people from Uber Eats, Amazon, UPS, etc.

I bought a set of encyclopedias from a door to door salesman.

…and because you’ve never once pulled a single volume out of the bookcase since you bought them, I thought you might want to by a brush to dust those babies off. :)

Saw a skit where a mother and daughter listened to a good-looking guy’s spiel for encyclopedias. When he left, daughter said in plaintive voice. He could sell me an encyclopedia. Mom laughed and said, What do you want with one? You don’t even finish reading the blurb on your cereal box.

I had a very brief stint – less than 1 month – selling encyclopedias, door-to-door in rural Ireland back in the ’60s. ’Nuff said!
