I can’t tell if he has his thumb out trying to hitch a ride or has his cell phone open hoping to get reception. I doubt most current youth even know about thumbing a ride.
It’s just like kids and driving. They seems to have conditioned themselves to think that driving is just like playing a video game. Grab the excitement, the fastest one wins, and if something bad happens just hit the “reset” button…
Optimism may explain how he got way out in the middle of nowhere on a small personal watercraft. Pessimism may explain why he brought a 2-1/2 gallon gas can with him on a small personal water craft.
Wiley is slipping. Not nearly as racist, falsely racists stereotyped and racially dividing as yesterday. Like they say, “Haters Got To Hate”. You know who you are. And so do we. Shame on you.
I’ve had some hard times in my life, and hitch-hiking was the only way to get to where I was going. I’ve also picked up hitchers knowing they were probably down and out like I’d been. I can remember a few uncomfortable situations, but all-in-all never any real problems. Although times have certainly changed I wouldn’t rule out giving a ride to someone in need.
No-count Oaf would have brought a plastic shopping bag for its gas ‘cept it thinks that it’s hot air BS fuels everything in the world and can make “just so…” for the rest of the peckerwoods.

If the island is close enough to be reached by a gas-guzzling jet-ski, that kid won’t be there long.

It would be a lot funnier if it were an electric vehicle. Of course maybe he needs the gas to put in his generator so he can power up the battery.

Most youths I met and worked with were optimistic that taking a good thing too far would have unfortunate consequences.

I used to hitch rides from Florida to California and there abouts as a young man, wouldn’t recommend it now.

Yeah, desert dwellers have to constantly remind these ATV folks not to go out farther than you are prepared to walk back.

As many drunken boaters out there as there are drunken drivers.
And see 1953 film THE HITCH HIKER.
