My favorite saying – not only applied to bad, but also good because life constantly changes.

Several years ago, I went to my doctor with groin pain. It was diagnosed as a kidney stone. It did pass on its own. I was lucky in that I might have had combined several minutes worth of really bad pain distributed here and there over the course of the several days it took for it to pass.

Based on the questions my doctor asked me I realized that the momentary back spasm, “gas pain” and achiness in the groin that I occasionally get are also kidney stones. I’ve been passing them, asymptomatically, all along. I’m lucky. So far I’ve only had one that was big enough to get my attention and from what other people tell me, it wasn’t that bad.

I have an obsession for staying hydrated; I pee a lot. That’s probably why most stones pass “under the radar.”

The only thing I’ve passed lately is gas.

So I pose the question here, Aunty….What are we passing on?
