    I remember when how many transistors were in your radio was a big deal, catering to the eternal “more is better” crowd. None of whom knew what a transistor was or did.

    Back in the sixties, when most Marvel superheroes seemed to owe their origins and powers to accidents involving radiation, Stan Lee wrote many a thought balloon in which Tony Stark attributed the miraculous capabilities of his Iron Man armor to the miniaturization made possible by transistors.
